Global revenue for light-emitting diode (LED) drivers used in general lighting applications will more than triple from 2012 to 2015, as the market for solid-state illumination booms, according a new report entitled “LED Driver ICs – World – 2013” from IMS Research, now part of IHS (NYSE: IHS).

DLC listing qualifies the CHL series in numerous types of rebate and incentive programs in the booming energy retrofit market. The machine lights in the new PLD (Phoenix Lighting Devices) range were presented to the public for the first time at Phoenix Contact's booth at Hannover Messe in April 2013. The LED lights are the first of a new generation of LED lighting products. A PLD communication module can be used to completely integrate the lights into a machine’s control unit by the shortest possible route.

A well-known East Asian display manufacturer has awarded Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum the contract to deliver fore-vacuum solutions for its state-of-the-art production process. This multi-million Swiss Franc contract involves fitting the production line with around 200 systems. “With this major order, we are positioning ourselves in the growing display and monitor application area and have once again demonstrated our expertise in processes and solutions,” says Dr. Martin Füllenbach, Segment CEO at Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum.

OLED lighting developments are taking place worldwide, with a lot of the research focused on phosphorescent OLED materials, which have a theoretical luminous efficacy four times higher than fluorescent materials. Last month, Konica Minolta unveiled its new flexible OLED lighting panels at the Lighting Fair 2013 exhibition in Tokyo. The company has developed its own blue phosphorescent materials, enabling it to commercialize the world's first OLED panels using only phosphorescent materials.

The company has won a contract to deliver 1300 LED luminaries to the parking garage of Tele2 Arena in Stockholm.
